Power for Every Situation

Spirit filled believers have residing within them the power and ability to overcome every situation.  Ephesians 3:16 "that He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit..."

The Greek word translated into strengthened actually means empowered and the word translated into might means explosive power dynamic in its working; ability to perform anything.

Therefore, Ephesians 3:16 could read, "that He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be empowered with the ability to perform anything through His Spirit (in you)".

Jesus said in Acts 1:8 "You shall receive power after that the holy Ghost is come upon you."  The same Greek word for power being used means this verse says, "You shall receive the abilty to perform anything when the Holy Ghost has come upon you".

Crossing Your Jordans

Every believer has a high calling from God.  Some do not yet know what that call is and others are just reluctant to pursue it.

Philippians 3:13 & 14 "...one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forthe to those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

At various stages of our lives God sets before us a pre-ordained plan that we are to fulfill.  And not only does God call us,  but He promises us that, when we act in faith, trusting Him, He will bring the plan to fulfillment.  Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus christ."  That is to say, God is faithful to develop and complete the good work He began in you.

24 Hour Assistance

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

Refuge and strength is a phrase that means "impenetrable or unconquerable defense.  So, this verse opens with a statement declaring what God is - an unconquerable defense.

The verse concludes with when God is - "very present", or ever present.

It is a promise of "In your time of trouble, in the midst of a persistent evil, in the face of the worst possible calamity, I (God) will be your ever present help.

Recall the words of Jesus in the Gospel of John 14:16 "I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intecessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby) that He may abide with you forever."

Adopted Into God's Family

Romans 8:15 (AMP) "For the Spirit which you have now received is not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of Adoption (the Spirit producing sonship) in the bliss of which we cry Abba, Father!"

What does this mean?  When we were born into this world, we were born in sin.  the Psalmist said in Psalm 51:5, "I was brought forth in a state of iniquity; my mother was sinful who conceived me, and I too am sinful".  Ephesians 2:3 says that we "were by nature the children of wrath...".

So, being born in sin, were not the children of God, but we were born by nature as children of the devil.  Jesus, speaking to the Jewish leaders in John 8:44 said, You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do...".  1 John 3:8 says that who willingly, knowingly and habitually commits sin is of the devil.  Verse 10 goes on to say that whoever does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought and action is not of God and neither is anyone who does not love his brother.

What’s So Special About You?

Do you remember growing up and having pickup games on the neighborhood sandlot? Do you remember ever being on a team only because you were the only one left at the end of choosing teams? It was an experience that left you feeling anything but special. Such is not the case with God. You are very special to Him. 1 Peter 2:9-10 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of Him Who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; who once were not a people, but are now the people of God…”. The phrase “chosen generation” means select, favorite offspring. With that in mind you could read the beginning of our text “But you are a select and favorite offspring”. Unlike the situation in the sandlot, God has not left you to chance, but He has personally selected you as one of His favorites to be a member of His team.
